One step further than the manual tensioner is to brace the tensioner idler bolt. The factory timing belt idler arm is bolted to a thin cast aluminum piece of the waterpump. High rpm, big cams, and extremely high spring pressures prove to be too much leverage on the waterpump and snaps the bolt's base.
These brace the top of the idler bolt by carrying the additional load to two of the waterpump mounting bolts.
